October 2009 - Rare Introduces New Slate Profile
Rare is proud to announce they have designed a new metal roofing profile. Check out the IronStone Slate Product Overview and our Photo Gallery pages. This new product was designed in-house by Rare Mfg. and is intended to simulate the look of old world slate, made using the same base metal as our other roofing products.

February 2009 - U.S. CUSTOMERS: 2009 Expanded Tax Credit for Energy-Efficient Home Improvements
In February 2009 the new economic stimulus package re-vamped the income tax credit previously offered to US consumers for installing qualifying energy-efficient home improvements. The IRC Sec. 25C now allows for a credit of up to 30% of the total cost of the qualifying improvement, up to a new maximum of $1,500 and the deadline for applying has been extended through to the end of 2010. According to the IRS Notice 2006-26, to qualify for the tax credit a metal roof must:

• have pigmented coatings that are specifically and primarily designed to reduce the heat gain of a dwelling unit when installed on the dwelling unit; and
• meet or exceed the Energy Star program requirements (as in effect at the time of installation).

January 2009 - CANADIAN CUSTOMERS: 2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit
Between January 27th, 2009 and February 1st, 2010, purchasing a new metal roof for your residence qualifies you for a non-refundable income tax credit of up to $1,350.
